Atop the Cumberland Plateau lies Cumberland Mountain State Park, with amenities varying from comfortable cabins and a full-service restaurant to campsites and winding hiking trails. Byrd Lake is open for use by rented boats only, and fishing is allowed from boat or shore. Built in 1938 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the park is just south of Crossville and includes a golf course, swimming pool and other recreational areas.
